Sequential compression — pressure in mmHg separates clinical from massage
505 products · price checked on 11/02/2026
Compression therapy means sequential compression: chambers that inflate in order, from the foot to the top of the thigh, pushing fluid in the direction of drainage. The more chambers, the more gradual the wave. A single-chamber boot squeezes the whole leg at once — that is massage, and it is a good share of what is sold as compression therapy.
Check that the pressure is adjustable in mmHg and that the garments come in more than one size. In lymphedema and after surgery the pressure is prescribed, and a "low, medium, high" device does not let you prescribe. Deep vein thrombosis is a contraindication: the assessment comes before the device.
